What I'm Up To...People often come up to me at art shows or while I'm conducting a workshop and say, "Where do you show your work?" To which I usually answer, "Right here."I do a couple of shows a year, and a couple of workshops a year, but the best place to find me is where I'm at. So, if you see me at a show and are wondering where you might see my work, chances are really good that there's some behind me, or beside me, or at least within 10 feet of me in some direction.Yes, I have some work in galleries; yes, I have some work in permanent collections across the great state of California; yes, I do an occasional art show. Here's a list of where I've been and where I'll be - but it's pretty short. If you can't wait to find me at a show, drop me an email & we'll see what we can do.
RepresentationI have shown my work in a few galleries in Southern California. Tesoro, in Beverly Hills, has sold a few of my larger pieces, and even has one of my pitchers featured in a mural there.Chemers Gallery, in Tustin, has sold my work as well, and usually has my more current work. This is one of the nicest galleries in Orange County, carrying some really intriguing and involving work.I also have a friend, Ralph Young of Artistic Consulting, who has represented my work for about 10 years and has always looked out for my best interests.
Annual ShowsJazz in the Pines - Idyllwild, CA. I've done this August show for 4 years now. It's a jazz festival with a bit of art sprinkled in for flavor, but I'm a big jazz fan and my folks live up there, so I try to go every year and hope I sell enough to pay for the trailer I rented to haul everything up there.Artistic License - Costa Mesa, CA. This is the most wonderful show I've ever had the privilege of participating in. This next October (2003) will be my 7th year there, and I'm already looking forward to it. Not just a "craft fair", this is a fine crafts show in every since of the word. Besides pottery, there are woodworkers, weavers, glass artists, leathercraftspersons, and lots of really cool stuff. It will be held Friday & Saturday, the weekend before Halloween.

In my college days I won a few scholarships and a few prizes in shows, such as the California Collegiate Ceramics Competition. I was also in the International Collegiate Ceramics Competition and in 1993 was awarded the prestigious "Art Stars of California - Fine Crafts" award from Art in America magazine.
WorkshopsI used to do two workshops a year, guaranteed. They were, in no particular order, "Throw Big Saturday" and "Raku Saturday" - both one-day workshops at nearby Trabuco Hills High School. I love working with clay, I have fond memories of high school, and the teacher and kids there are great. I always enjoyed these two weekends. I have now moved to Oregon, so I'll have to look for a similar opportunity here.I'm available for workshops for high school and beginning college ceramics classes on an occasional basis. Again, just drop me an email and we'll see what we can do.
